Die im Jahre 2004 gegründete Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard-Stiftung zur Förderung von Wissenschaft und Forschung unterstützt begabte junge Wissenschaftlerinnen mit Kindern, um ihnen die für eine wissenschaftliche Karriere erforderliche Freiheit und Mobilität zu verschaffen. Die Stiftung will helfen zu verhindern, dass hervorragende Talente der wissenschaftlichen Forschung verloren gehen. Sie richtet sich an Doktorandinnen in einem Fach der experimentellen Naturwissenschaften oder der Medizin.
Förderhöhe und Förderdauer:
Die Förderung beträgt 200 bis 400 EUR/ Monat über einen Zeitraum von einem Jahr. Die finanzielle Unterstützung soll zur Entlastung im Haushalt und bei der Kinderbetreuung beitragen, um Zeit für die wissenschaftliche Arbeit zu gewinnen. Die Förderung beginnt zum März nach dem entsprechenden Bewerbungstermin.

Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard Foundation: Grants for female PhD researchers (Medicine/ Natural Sciences)

The grants of the Foundation are aimed at excellent beginning scientists in the field of experimental natural sciences, who see their chosen career threatened by the additional responsibility of caring for one or more children. The CNV-Foundation sponsors female researchers of all nationalities, conducting graduate research at a German university or research institute. The PhD thesis should have a duration of at least one year from the stipend start. The living expenses of the applicant should be covered by a salary or fellowship. It is expected that the child/children are already being taken care of by a daycare facility or other.
Grant amount & duration:
The stipend may amount up to 400 EUR/month, depending on the individual situation. It is granted for one year. This financial assistance will be given for help reduce the amount of time spent with household tasks and for additional childcare in order to increase the time used for scientific research. Funding begins in March after the application deadline.
