English version below

>> Presenting Research Results (10./11.01.2017, 09:00–17:00)
This course will help doctoral students to prepare for the presentation of their research in seminars, at conferences or in their disputation. By getting actively involved and receiving systematic feedback participants will recognize their strengths and weaknesses. They can try out new presentation strategies and thus improve their presentation skills.

>> Communicating Science to the Media (12.01.2017, 09:00–16:30)
Science impacts almost all aspects of human life. For this reason, scientific institutions must foster good relations with the media; an important transferrable skill for every scientist is the ability to successfully communicate research results to non-scientists. This one-day seminar covers the basics of working effectively with the media.

>> Strategies for a Successful Doctorate (16./17.01.2017, 09:00–17:00)
Usually, the doctoral thesis is the first large academic project a doctoral student has to complete. In this course, we will treat the dissertation as a personal project that can be planned and carried out by using special techniques.

>> Journalistic Writing for Scientists (23./24.01.2017, 09:00–16:30; 09:00–13:00)
Stories about science are some of the most exciting and important for the media and for the public. But it often is a challenge for scientists to make complex research accessible to a lay audience. This one-and-a-half-day seminar aims to teach the basics of journalistic writing to scientists.
