Funding period: August 1, 2027, through May 31, 2028
The goal of the BMFTR initiative is to support projects at universities and research institutions, as well as in collaboration with practitioners in the field of contemporary Jewish studies. To this end, Funding Line A aims to establish a network of expertise that connects academic institutions and established civil society actors in the field of contemporary Jewish studies. Funding under Funding Track A is generally structured for four years, with an evaluation in the third year of the funding period. If the evaluation is positive, this is followed by a second funding period of up to four years. Funding Line B is intended to support relevant individual and collaborative research projects in the field of contemporary Jewish studies. Under Funding Line B, a funding period of generally three to four years is possible. The application process consists of two stages. In the first stage, project outlines must be submitted electronically by October 9, 2026, for Funding Line A, and by October 29, 2026, for Funding Line B. When submitting an outline, the Research Department requests that you send a brief notification to the Heidelberg Research Service: christian.schulz@zuv.uni-heidelberg.de
The goal of the BMFTR initiative is to strengthen the long-term competitiveness of German industry in the fields of cybersecurity and communication technologies, to expand innovation ecosystems and research infrastructures, and to ensure the sustainable transfer of knowledge necessary for these efforts. To this end, collaborative projects involving at least one commercial enterprise (large company, SME, or startup) and at least one university or research institution will be funded. These projects must be coordinated by a commercial enterprise. The goal of the collaborative projects is the transfer-oriented further development of a science-based innovation that has already been successfully demonstrated in the laboratory. The project duration is generally up to three years. Project outlines may only be submitted by consortia that hold the intellectual property (IP) rights to the project’s core innovation. The research activity from which the IP originates should typically have been conducted no more than twelve months prior and should have been successfully completed by the time of approval. The application process consists of two stages. In the first stage, project outlines must be submitted in electronic form by October 15, 2026, at the latest. When submitting an outline, the Office of Research asks that you send a brief notification to the Heidelberg Research Service: christian.schulz@zuv.uni-heidelberg.de
Funding is provided for collaborative projects consisting of industry-led consortia involving relevant, high-caliber universities and research institutions that further develop highly relevant 6G key technologies—up to and including functional prototypes—and demonstrate them in practice through large-scale end-to-end 6G applications with a focus on features exclusive to 6G. The projects should address areas with innovation potential and development challenges. The application process consists of two stages. In the first stage, project outlines must be submitted in electronic form by October 15, 2026, at the latest. When submitting an outline, the Research Department requests that you send a brief notification to the Heidelberg Research Service: christian.schulz@zuv.uni-heidelberg.de
Participants are invited to submit COST Action proposals contributing to the scientific, technological, economic, cultural or societal knowledge advancement and development of Europe. Multi- and interdisciplinary proposals are encouraged. The Open Call Action proposal submission, evaluation, selection and approval (SESA) procedure is fully science and technology-driven and will ensure a simple, transparent and competitive proposal evaluation and selection process, reflecting the bottom-up, open and inclusive principles of COST. All proposals are to be submitted via the dedicated online platform of the COST Association used for grant management, known as e-COST.
The Ministry of Science, Research, and the Arts is offering funding for travel to partner institutions with the aim of initiating new collaborations and strengthening existing ones. Participating State Programs:
Funding is available for stays during the 2027 calendar year. Funding generally includes travel grants as well as a subsidy for living expenses. The specific details of the funding vary depending on the state program.
The goal of the program offered by the “Japan Society for the Promotion of Science” (JSPS) is to provide German graduate students, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral researchers with direct insight into Japan’s cultural and scientific landscape, enabling them to gain early experience in the Japanese research environment. At the same time, this stay at Japanese universities and selected research institutes offers an excellent opportunity to systematically introduce young German researchers to cutting-edge Japanese research and future collaborations with Japan. Funding is provided for a stay scheduled between June and August, which is divided into the following phases:
The JSPS scholarship includes the following benefits:

Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) are exchange visits aimed at supporting individual mobility and training of researchers and innovators through general activities of Working Groups. These visits must take place at a host organization located in a country different from that of your affiliation. STSM applicants must be enrolled in an official research programme as a PhD Student or postdoctoral fellow (completion of their PhD within the last eight years). An STSM ought to support the scientific advancement of the FLAVOURsome COST Action while simultaneously providing participants with access to unique data, instruments, and methodologies that are unavailable within their own institutions and enabling them to acquire new skills. Each year, a small number of STSMs will be granted for technology transfer and training across laboratories in various member nations enrolled in the Action, as specified by the COST framework rules. The last day of the short-term scientific mission should be no later than 30th September to guarantee the reimbursement.

British-German research teams are invited to submit their joint research proposals within the scope of all themes within EPSRC, through the responsive mode standard grant funding route, and all corresponding subject areas of the DFG. Applicants should demonstrate how bringing together researchers based in Germany and the UK will add value and advance research. It is expected that each partner substantially contributes to the joint project. Note: joint proposals submitted under this opportunity should have a maximum duration of 3 years.
The program allows funding of short-term (2 weeks to 4 months) national and international research stays at institutions in Germany and abroad, for knowledge exchange and learning of experimental techniques. In addition, applications can be submitted to support active participation in workshops, 'summer schools' and scientific courses. Applications can be submitted at any time.
With this scholarship program, the DAAD supports master's students, doctoral candidates and postdocs from various disciplines who are working in the field of "green hydrogen". The Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) grant funds a visit to a host organization located in a different country by a researcher for specific work to be carried out and for a determined period of time. These exchange visits aim to support individual mobility, train young researchers, and foster collaboration between institutions through the activities of the Action’s Working Groups. Each year, several STSMs will be funded to promote the exchange of techniques, knowledge, and expertise between laboratories in different COST Member States. An STSM must directly contribute to the scientific objectives of the TEAR-Precision COST Action (CA24112), while enabling participants to acquire new skills, access specific data, instruments, and methods not available at their home institutions. A maximum of €4000 can be awarded. STSM applicants must meet one of the following criteria: - Be engaged in an official research programme as a PhD student or postdoctoral researcher. - Be employed by, or affiliated with, an institution, organisation, or legal entity with a clear research remit. - Applicants must be from a COST Participating country. The TEAR-Precision STSM grant calls are open on a continuous, first-come, first-served basis. Please apply 3 months before the proposed starting date. At a minimum, applications must be submitted 30 days before the start date of the research visit.
