Events Panel Discussion and Workshop 4EU+ „Career Development & Leadership“

On November 16th, 2022, Heidelberg Graduate Academy in collaboration with the Heidelberg branch of the 4EU+ European University Alliance offered a training package on “Career Development & Leadership” for doctoral researchers from all 4EU+ partner universities with international speakers from academia and business. The initiative was financed through funds provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Ministry for Science, Research and Art of the State of Baden-Württemberg.

The training package consisted of the following consecutive events and activities:

Are you wondering how to navigate the next steps in your career as an early career researcher?  Do you have questions about what makes a good leader? And how can we equip today’s learners with the skills for tomorrow’s leaders? In the panel discussion on „Career Development and Leadership“ the Graduate Academy and experts from both academia and industry explored these and many other questions about career development for early career researchers.

  • “Challenges for leadership in academic contexts”, Prof. Dr. Christiane Schwieren (Professor of Organizational Behavior, Alfred Weber Institute for Economics, and Equal Opportunities Commissioner, Heidelberg University)

Workshop "Career Development and Leadership" and individual coaching sessions, November 17th & 18th, 2022

In our two-day workshop on career development vis-à-vis leadership skills participants explored their career aspirations based on their competencies and values. They learned to set engaging yet realistic goals for their own personal and professional development and to reflect on their vision regarding future achievements. 

Workshop participants were also invited to take part in the subsequent individual coaching sessions. For the individually scheduled, remote coaching sessions, participants had the opportunity to set their own focus according to the individual learning outcome from the workshop.
