German language courses for Doctoral Candidates

Academics know best: You never stop learning. As a doctoral student, you will find a lot to be explored here in Heidelberg, not only in your discipline, but also in terms of language and culture. To help you advance on your expedition, the International Study Centre offers you (and your partner) tailor-made German language online courses making you ready for everyday communication inside and outside university.

 

 
Start of registration period: March 1st (for summer semesters) / September 1st (for winter semesters)

Class times: parallel to the lecture periods (mid-April to July / mid-October to February) Tuesdays + Thursdays, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm (30 90-minute sessions per semester)

Levels offered: all levels from A1.1 (absolute beginners) up to C1.2/C2 (advanced learners)
If you did not attend a course in the previous semester, your level will be assessed with the help of an obligatory online placement test (date: via details/registration link below).

Lesson format: interactive online video conferences

Credits: This is a not-for-credit course without tests or exams. If you do not miss more than 6 classes, you will receive a non-graded certificate of regular attendance at the end of the course.
