Fraenkel Prize in Contemporary History 2012 (Wiener Library London)

The Fraenkel Prize is awarded for an outstanding work of twentieth-century history in one of the Wiener Library’s fields of interest, i.e. the history of Central and Eastern Europe; Jewish history; the two world wars; anti-semitism; and the ideologies and movements of political extremism and totalitarianism.

There are two distinct awards:
Category A: open to all entrants. The length, not counting references and the bibliography must not be below 50,000 words and not exceed 150,000 words.
Category B: open to entrants who have yet to publish a major monograph. The length, not counting references and the bibliography, must not be below 25,000 words and not exceed 100,000 words.

The award amount for entries in Category A is $6,000 and for entries in Category B, $4,000.
 

Requirements:
The work must be written in English, French or German and be unpublished in any language at the deadline for submissions.
