As the first "Springer Nature Guest Professor" the longtime Editor-in-Chief of the Springer Nature publishing company and former editor of the renowned journal "Nature", Sir Philip Campbell, will join Heidelberg University for the 2018/2019 winter semester. His workshop on "Health, leadership and trust in research institutions" is hosted by the Marsilius Kolleg and will address the following questions in an interdisciplinary context:
- How should university departments and research institutes safeguard and develop the health (in technical, ethical and psychological senses) of research groups, the leadership of group leaders, and research-stakeholders’ trust in research?
- In particular, what recommendations should we make to the University of Heidelberg and to the Max Planck Society, to funding agencies, and to journal publishers/editors?
- And what could early stage scientists learn from this discussion for their individual careers?
Participants are invited to contribute short presentations (approximately 15 minutes). The syllabus with topics for presentations will be provided soon. Further topics can be suggested to the instructor of the workshop by 21 November 2018.
Target group: Graduate students (Master and PhD) and early stage postdoctoral fellows of all disciplines (sciences and humanities)
