LERU Doctoral Summer School 2019 “Building Research Capacity and a Collaborative Global Community”
The 10th annual Doctoral Summer School of the “League of European Research Universities” (LERU) will take place at the The University of Edinburgh, in Edinburgh, Scotland from July 15 to 19, 2019.
The organizing team of this year’s summer school has developed a stimulating program to introduce the participants to the principles and practices of interdisciplinary and international collaboration, to develop with them the tools necessary for navigating collaborative research and to create amongst them an international network of peers. The participants will put these theories into practice by developing and finalizing a guide to international collaboration for doctoral researchers during the summer school.
The summer school is aimed at doctoral students at an advanced stage of their training who are highly motivated to work in an international and interdisciplinary team and to contribute to the Collaborative Guide.
As a member of LERU, Heidelberg University can send 1 or 2 doctoral students to the summer school. The Graduate Academy will select the final participants from the group of candidates.
Interested doctoral students should send their applications by email to the Graduate Academy (firstname.lastname@example.org) at the latest by March 11, 2019. The application must consist of the following documents:
- Curriculum vitae and motivation letter including a short description of the doctoral project (in English)
- Letter of recommendation from the doctoral supervisor (in English)
The application should not be longer than 4 pages.
Participation in the summer school will be supported by the Graduate Academy with a travel grant (most likely covering the participation fee).
