Heidelberg Graduate School for Humanities and Social Sciences (HGGS)
The HGGS offers a structured doctoral programme to all doctoral students of the humanities and social sciences but this is not obligatory. The HGGS’s approach is interdisciplinary. It tries to combine the tradition of relative freedom in writing a thesis in the humanities with new approaches in educating post-graduates, e.g. by offering them seminars. The general working language of the HGGS is German, although there are some courses offered in English.
